New York Fashion Week Day Two Excitement

Day Two

My thoughts, This should be a good show.

Show times:

February 10, 2023

10:30

13:00

15:00

17:00

19:00

The establishment is everything you would expect from a venue all about the heart of New York City. Gotham Hall, even Bruce Wayne feels ready to make an appearance. There are overall five shows to see today. The billboard reads 1% Good looks, 99% heart. I am completely blind to the designers presenting today. Taking notes on any names I see or hear but that hypes up the anticipation. NY, Paris and Orlando are the areas listed on my press pass. Top locations for the fashion industry so it’s sure to impress. The media pit is full today but fairly quiet in the beginning meaning the clothes are sure to do all the talking.

Again my photos may not capture the entire beauty of it but I will work to keep engagement on my words.

“Fashion is not just about style. It’s about excellence.” India’s Ambassador.

India and New York relations are showing through fashion this morning.

First up is Oitijhyo, Indian Contemporary Brides.

Golds, Royal Blue, Purples, Lavender, Orange, Burgundy and shawls. Women of pride is the feeling I get. Live music accompanies the ensembles. You can see the modern contemporary. You can feel a Eurasian design infused with Indian culture. A bride in pants is just my style. Invite me to that bridal shower. The color combinations stood out the most. All colors came together for the complete collection.

Might I note, working with an iPhone camera works so much easier than a regular Samsung camera, which I have. But of course I’m not a photographer. The clothing definitely brings together a generational gap that I am almost envious of. The accessories draw together the look. I love the sounds that come from a dress laced in bangles and noisy materials.

It heightens my senses. The veils are my favorite part.

Next is Naari’s designer boutique showcasing “Stars of the Galaxy”. Sequin designs down to the shoes. Definitely a galaxy. You can feel the couture in this collection. I love a pink princess look mixed with a villainess in the making. These models need to slow down, they are traveling at the speed of light. It feels like a galactic race. But there are so many beautiful designs to see in so little time. I love the look of this collection as they come together.

Aattiris by Vaishali Dumar

I am impressed so far by the color choices of Indian designers. It is so homogeneous. Love Indian fabric with western tones. The flow speaks of Indian culture while the ruffles pull off western confidence. Where do they find those shades of greens and blues? I’m screaming.

Randhawa Brand is next on the roster and for the entire day. Indo-western fashion. The collection comes off as well-traveled. I can see many traveling fashionistas coming to experience this collection. I love the color choices. Pinks, turquoise, blacks, oranges. It speaks wonders to the indo-western fashion combinations.

This collection speaks wonders for US/India relations. If Miss USA and Miss India had a litter of fashion babies intent on changing the fashion world this would be it. Sprinkle in some men’s fashion and you are ready for some high level meetings to change the world. Let’s go India.

Anvi Coutour Prismatic Soul

White leads into a rainbow. This collection reminds me of the modern Indian fashion you would find in Paris. The chosen fabrics are what draws the eye. Very modern India in the cuts and designs. I love ruffle sleeves. This is definitely a cross-cultural collection. Details, Details, Details in the fabric. The movement of the materials draw on the name of the collection. I’m so surprised but not disappointed in the amount of pants I am seeing on the runway. They flow so much like skirts, you can’t tell and I’d love a pair for my next fashion show.

Beautiful flower patterns. Tye-dye inspired fabrics are a surprise for the skirts. And at this moment I’m thinking I should have brought my chargers because all of my electronics are dying.

Priyal Dashi Couture.

This collection drew many supporters to the media pit. A lovely combination of sequin designs. I can see why this is definitely a down to Earth collection. Something you can see the everyday person splurging on. The designers are just as gorgeous as their collections.

Vastra Vashtaari

The cut of the skirts draw attention to the mindfulness skill of the designer. These skirts definitely draw on the uniqueness of the design. This looks like a designer who has a lot to teach when it comes to technique and skill. So far I love all the unique cuts of the skirts down to the seams. This may be my favorite designer so far by skill alone. The detail in the cut and falls of the skirt. This is what I came here for. The seamstress in me is screaming for a mentorship. Ugh, I love petticoats. Gorgeous collection. End of the 10:30 Show.

Meanwhile off the runway and into the media pit.

The Getty is getting priority in the media pit. Of course production never goes as expected according to some models on the go but from my end I can’t tell…or maybe I’m more focused on the fashion? Gotham Hall is in the NYC cut, cushioned between Times Square & Grand Central but still has a high profile reputation in the world of fashion.

Next up is the second show for Hi-tech Moda’s Friday show. I am a learning photographer so of course I brought no chargers. I’m going to need to keep my camera battery life going along with my iPhone. I’ll limit shots to my aesthetic favorites. People in front of me are comparing lenses. 70mm and what nots. I have a Samsung camera I bought at a pawn shop when I first became a freelance journalist. It works for my point-and-click technique but now trying to catch fashion shots; I feel a bit self-conscious being at the front of the media pit. But this is a great spot for my experience so Ima keep parked and steady in the position I’m at. Oh man the pressure is on, I got a coveted spot which I feel like with my lousy camera I shouldn’t have. But with that fancy ass camera of his I’m sure the homie next to me who got kicked to the back can manage. Even after he tried to guilt me into moving. Can’t wait to see what it’s like in Milan.

Next is 13:00 show Pageantry and Fashion. Lovely little misses perform the pageant live.

Gloria Aria’s Georgia’s Best and Brightest

Beautiful designs. You can see the skill even more in these compact children’s and teen’s designs. I love a pageant girl look and I never even knew it. Lovely looks all around the models do perfect for the pageantry of the looks. Never knew I was a pageant girl until this day. Gorgeous cuts.

Alford’s Bridal and Evening

Short design but very elegant. Misses everywhere. Miss Michigan, Miss North Carolina, Miss South Carolina and Miss Curve Globe plus more. Neutral colors. Pre-teen Universe, Miss Maine and Miss Oklahoma take the stage as well. They look like princesses from the School of Good and Evil. Wasn’t expecting a pageant show but the outfits are lovely and put me in a different state of mind. Fairy tale Cinderella. This is a girl’s literal fashion dream.

Marc Defang is the final show with children and adult fashion. Feathers are beautiful. Jumper looks for children and adults. Feathers add a flair to the sequin. I love when feathers are left on the runway, it feels like the angels have touched down. I’m not a huge fan of velvet looks so there are things touching down that I don’t like. The looks overall pull together a nice night life look with the feathers.

Meanwhile off the runway and into the media pit.

The lines outside are building up for the afternoon shows. Back in our original spot. The media pit is piling in but like The Scripts, I’m not moving. Some media are already being tossed out loudly by production staff. I’m seated right in front of Getty and he hasn’t shoved me out of the way so this is a safe and good spot.

The 15:00 show is sold out.

First up is Camellia Couture.

A nice quiet set. I can see this being a collection you find in a spoiled fashionista’s closet.

Kayzie Couture

Burgundy, Reds and Blacks. The material for some of these outfits pops. As well as the cut and design. Some outfits I can say I’ve seen before but there are definitely looks that popped.

LP Couture.

Cowgirl couture with a cat on the runway. The southern Belle in me appreciates the look overall but I cringe at jean wear on a runway.

Charjean Couture

This is a great fashionable, professional look for bringing in the future of office looks. Lovely like from a Barbie Collection line. Barbie would definitely appreciate this look.

Willow Bean Studio

I like pink, laces and skirts. Nice skirts that give me a prom vibe. The heart details on the heels were a nice touch.

Lorine Ortiz Puerto Rico

I love this line, you can see the culture in the color choices and multi-colored fabrics. I like what was done with the fabric.

Kodi Kris

This is most of the men’s looks I’ve seen all day. The models are selling. Gives me Assassin’s Creed vibes.

Alegre de Filipines Season 2

Philipina Butterfly. Lovely high fashion with flowers and poofy sleeves. Such a variety of looks. Nice Blazer looks for the runway. These designs look like they suit Macy’s where you can literally go up the block and buy an outfit. Philippines meets NYFW. Gowns are gorgeous with unique details. The near final look is absolutely gorgeous with gold, red and blue. I love the butterflies that line some of the outfits. They appear to flutter on the runway.

Neals Ensemble

Lovely Island looks. The headdresses add to the look. Definitely some show-stopping pieces, giving me winter has come Game of Throne vibes. Parasols call on a princess look. Reds Silvers and Blacks. End of the 15:00 show.

Fashion shows during NYFW don’t seem to ever start exactly on time but that doesn’t bother me as much as it seems to bother some guests.

17:00 Show

Belle Le Chic

Bohemian chic looks with nice colors and cuts. I loved the sequin lacing on the sleeves.

Rasa Nari Essence of a Woman

Loungewear and strutwear for all types of fashionistas. Nice use of fabrics. A lovely collection that is every essence of a woman.

Marc Defang

Nice lime greens and pinks. Matches his earlier show with a bit more glam. Don’t hold back on the feathers this time. Pink, purple, turquoise, yellow. Beautiful color combinations. More classic glam and cuts. I love the roman cut on some of the dresses. Some disco glam and finish with a pink suit. Marc matches his fashion so yeah you know it’s him.

Norman Nezario

Not much opinion on the looks individually. When brought together it made for a nice looking collection. Her two black looks stole the show.

BEL BLAK COUTURE

I love, love, love the fabrics being used in this collection though a woman next to me jokes that she can find the fabrics in her kitchen. Well, I say, now you know what to do with them. Burlap sacks make for a look these days. I almost wish each of these models were wearing a pair of Yeezy’s. It would be a political and fashion statement that would save Adidas money. Again, not a fan of jeans on the runway so not many shots of those. I like the Dystopian high fashion look, it’s unexpected. The designer’s personal brand shows in this collection.

  • BEl BLAK COUTURE Worn by Junita Louis

Carlos Benquiqui

Long Live Rock and Roll! This is a fun collection especially for us rockstars. Tiger print! Yes! Yes! Yes.! I want this for my personal collection. This looks to be the first all men’s look for  the night. What a great collection for a steampunk rock fan.

Randhawa Brand

India is in the house all day. Each design is so personalized you can see how a bride would feel special on her day wearing these garments. I like how the added tassels put weight on the fabric to make it move like in the wind. Beautiful and professionally done collection. Accompanied by live music from a Ukranian violinist this is quite an experience.

Last show for the day and it has been a long one but with good vibes on the runway. So far Hitechmoda has been a fun experience. The media pit seems more full than its been all day but that could just be my fatigue. I should still manage some good shots. A lot of fashion has taken the runway today. It feels like a cloud of beauty and fabric. Producing in NYC for 10 years, Gotham is the hit spot.

First up is By Vel

A pretty set for children and adults. The ruffles are gorgeous. Wednesday Addams vibe with a knit look and petticoat. Lovely designs. Strong start for the final set.

Nana Lola

A lot of white on the runway. Simple looks with a touch of glam. A lot of florals this season to bring in spring vibes.

Marc Defang – Third Show

Back on the runway again with men and women’s looks. He likes his men in suits and so do I. He has clearly earned his spot as a designer front and back. There is something about couture that makes a fashion piece look so much more inspiring and runway capable. Marc Defang makes it look so easy.

Alonso Maximo

Viva la Mexico Capture

Designer: Alonso Maximo – Viva la Mexico

Lovely looks with a 20’s meets modern twist. Well placed sequins and pattern cuts. The back of these designs is what I love most. Such an attention to detail that screams, “I hate to see you go, but I love to watch you walk away.” Astrology vibes with a Pisces look. Yay. Watch those zippers in the back. Such small details can take away from the look. Awards show gowns definitely. Let’s see which celeb rocks one of these looks on the next red carpet. Some designs have triggered my gag reflex both in a good and bad way. But overall fantastic and I keep hearing a lot of wows from the crowd. Such vibrant fashion colors. What a gorgeous plaid and purple/red skirt.

Most designers have presented bridal looks that I feel any bride would enjoy. I try to consider how all the looks would work off the runway or are they meant to be worn only on this occasion? I would love to walk past someone on the train in these looks.
